HHS Proposes Privacy Rule Updates

Titled "Proposed Modifications to the HIPAA Privacy Rule to Support, and Remove Barriers to, Coordinated Care and Individual Engagement", the Department of Health and Human Services (DoHHS) is proposing changes to the HIPAA Privacy Rule that "...address standards that may impede the transition to value-based health care by limiting or discouraging care coordination and case management communications among individuals and covered entities... ...or posing other unnecessary burdens..."


The proposal will enter a public comment period before any decision is made that updates the Privacy Rule. As this news isn't "final", the graphic below is linked to the proposed modifications for those that want a deeper dive.
